Windows says "Windows protected your PC" when I install. Is it safe?
Yes. Windows shows this for new apps it hasn’t seen on many computers yet.

- 2Click Run anyway.
On a Mac, if it says the app can’t be checked: open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
